The publication of the Indian Journal of Spatial Science (IJSS) with ISSN 2249 - 3921 and EISSN 2249 - 4316 is a 'peer reviewed' 'open access' journal published quarterly by the “Indian Society of Spatial Scientists”(ISSS) goal to make ‘Research in Spatial Science in India’ of global standard with worldwide reference.
Since its inception in 2010, the IJSS has been steadily marching on with its unique features of originality, quality, discipline, regularity, and hope with the motto - 'qua patet orbis' and 'qualitas potential nostra'. Quality research articles, special articles, and book reviews are published under a 'free license', and anyone can read, download, copy, and distribute them. The issues are regularly published on the eve of Earth's four cardinal locations on its orbit of revolution around the Sun, e.g. Spring Issue (Vernal Equinox: March 21), Summer Issue (Summer Solstice: June 21), Autumn Issue (Autumnal Equinox: September 23), and Winter Issue (Winter Solstice: December 21).
The scope of the IJSS is to publish original and innovative articles broadly across the domain of spatial science including all fields of Geography, Geology, Hydrology, Cartography, Geographic Information Science, Image analysis, Social Sciences, and related disciplines that significantly improve the quality of research, learning, teaching, and applying the principles of spatial science in a theoretical, conceptual, or empirical way to emphasize the importance of spatial science in the contemporary global scenario. Its specific goal is to attract the attention of the current generation of young scholars from the fields of spatial science and serve as a portal for some of the best research articles and presentations. Submissions with an Indian flavour are encouraged; all submissions are 'primarily screened', and 'peer reviewed' by the members of the 'Board of Reviewers'.
The principal aims of the Indian Journal of Spatial Science are to:
