Abstract :

Forensic psychiatric social work, which has developed as an important part of psychiatric social work in our country; It started to come to the fore with the active operation of the High Security Forensic Psychiatric Hospitals opened within the city hospitals. One of the disadvantaged groups that should be evaluated in this area is orphaned homeless patients. This study was conducted to define the needs of orphans and homeless individuals who need social work intervention. The article is a compilation study that deals with the studies in the literature. It also includes the researcher's field experiences. In this context, orphaned homeless patients are reported to social workers and social work intervention is implemented as needed. However, the lack of resources in protective/preventive and therapeutic/rehabilitative social work interventions to be offered to orphaned homeless patients causes problems in the process. Making inter-institutional protocols in order to increase the quality of the service to be provided by the social workers who bridge the gap between the resources and the patients, especially for orphaned homeless patients, and supporting the in-kind and cash assistance needed by the patients will support the solution of the problems experienced by the patients in the treatment and post-treatment period
