Abstract :
Granulicatella adiacens, known as nutritionally variant streptococcus, an oral commensal, is difficult to isolate due to its fastidious nature, requiring pyridoxine for its growth. It is responsible for most commonly causing “culture-negative endocarditis” and bacteremia. However, few cases of prosthetic joint infections, osteomyelitis, localized abscesses, empyema, microbial keratitis with endophthalmitis are known. We discuss the case report where was isolated from the serous fluid of cellulitis of the right foot in a 33-year-old male with no comorbidities. This case report aims to create awareness about this rare yet pathogenic bacteria amongst the clinicians to prevent its misdiagnosis.
