Abstract :
Background: Mental disorders are believed to be caused by a complex interplay of biological, psychological, environmental, cultural and economic factors. In countries like India, social determinants of health, such as jobs, education, living standards, the environment, access, equity and others, make a major contribution to both causation and recovery.
Objectives: (1) To assess the quality of life among the caregivers of mentally ill patients. (2) To find out the association between the quality of life and socio demographic variables.
Methods: Non-probability, convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample for this study. The sample selection was based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Results: The study reveals that the 24 (60%) of the subjects are leading high level of quality of life and 16 (40%) of the people were leading low level of quality of life.
Conclusion: Findings reveal that there is no statistically significant association between the quality of life ratings of caregivers of mentally ill patients and selected socio-demographic variables.
