Abstract :
The developments in the field of communications and information technology have led to
changes in many areas. Perhaps one of the most important of these areas is related to trade and
sales methods, where a new type of sales and marketing methods emerged. Electronic commerce
has become an alternative to regular trade or sales and traditional shopping methods. This
research tackles the impact of electronic commerce on the welfare of the consumer. The
researchers used a questionnaire to reach the results, which was distributed to more than 300
participants. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which is that electronic commerce has positive effects on consumer welfare. Nevertheless, participants believed that
shopping via the Internet has increased the addiction of some people to buy things they do not
need. The study recommends the need to educate consumers in all aspects related to electronic
commerce, especially aspects related to fraud and scams through fake websites.
