Abstract :
Unemployment is a major problem currently spreading among young people which needs to
be addressed. Youth unemployment has become one of the most important problems of not only
developing countries like Turkey, but developed countries like EU members and many other developed countries in the world. Research has shown that youth unemployment rates are much higher
than unemployment rates in Turkey and in the world as well. Unemployment is seen as a global
problem and this should be the case for youth unemployment as well. In this study, at first Unit Root
Test has been conducted. Then Cointegration analysis has been conducted and a long term cointegration has been found between the series and the problems on the long run relationship are analysed with the VECM. The direction of the short-term relationship between variables were examined
through Granger causality analysis. Finally, it was determined unidirectional causality is running
to youth unemployment.
