Abstract :
At the university level, there is an increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education that has made a tremendous impact on decision-making, learning procedures, and student engagement. While AI has benefits such as personalized learning and adaptive systems, concerns remain over some potential negatives, including educational apathy and reduced cognitive engagement. We explore in this study how AI influences university students’ decisions and their tendency to be lazy. The study specifically aimed to: (1) explore the connection between student decisions and their use of AI;?(2) reveal the link between degrees of laziness and reliance on AI tools. Data were collected from 227 social science students enrolled at The Women’s University Multan, Bahauddin Zakariya University, and the University of Education using a questionnaire through simple random sampling. inferential statistics (Pearson, regression) were used for analysis. Making decisions has made students way smarter when it comes to decision-making; however, it has also led to an increase in university students’ laziness, according to the study. Study results reveal that the impact of AI on decision making and laziness were significant. The paper highlights the dual role of AI in enhancing learning effectiveness and potentially inducing dependence. The findings provide educators and policymakers with a blueprint on which to base plans for maximizing AI’s benefits — and minimizing drawbacks, such as lower academic effort. Additional investigation is recommended to explore?the long-term effects of AI on students’ behavior and performance.
