Abstract :

Background: Myxoglobulosis, a variant of mucocele, was first coined by Von Hansemann in 1914. The mucin globules were formed as an attempt to organise the mucin by the surrounding granulation tissue. History: A 17 years old male patient came with the history of swelling over the lower lip for past 2 months. Swelling measured about 2x2 cm, fluctuating, soft in consistency. Histopathological examination revealed features of mucocele with globules forming myxoglobulosis. Conclusion: Prognosis of mucocele – myxoglobulosis variant will be better than other types of mucoceles with low recurrence rate, good host response, however follow-up is essential.
