Abstract :
Objective: This study attempted to assess the morbidity profile of female domestic workers living in an
urban slum of Central Delhi.
Methods: A community based cross-sectional study using a pretested questionnaire was conducted. House
to house survey of an urban slum was done, to interview women working as domestic help assessing their
morbidity profile.
Results: A total of 100 female domestic workers were interviewed. Most prevalent morbidity reported
was anaemia, followed by musculoskeletal discomfort, genitourinary ailments, dental problems and
hypertension. 63% of the subjects reported 2-5 co-morbidities.
Conclusion: The domestic female workers suffer from a multitude of health problems which need recognition
from prospect of their occupational risk.
