Abstract :

This study has been conducted to determine the information, opinion and approaches of intensive care (IC) nurses on disaster management. The population of the descriptive study consisted of 226 nurses working in intensive care units (ICU) of a City Hospital between February - June 2019, while the sample of the study comprised 204 nurses who agreed to take part in the study. The data of the study have been collected using the "Nurses Information Form" and "Disaster Management Identification Form". In the analysis of the data; number, percentage, mean and correlation analysis have been used. As the result of the study it has been determined that mean age of the IC nurses was 33,71±7,76 years, 68,1% were female, 57,4% had educational status of license/master’s degree and 57,8% had been working in the ICU for 1-5 year(s). It has been detected that 69,1% of the nurses needed training on disaster management and 49,0% were partially prepared for a disaster. It has been determined that information and opinion of the IC nurses on what to do during a disaster varied between 54-98%, while their information and opinion about what to do after a disaster varied between 62-93%.
