Abstract :
Abstract Poetry is one of the most popular of all genres of Urdu Literature. However, post Karbala, eulogy in Urdu Literature has been confined to the names and sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions. In which the poetry of Iftikhar Arif has been taken as the primary source for highlighting the contemporary sensitivity and resistive literature. He takes Pakistani politics a ripe enough reason for the genres continuation. In his poetry, making use of linguistic aestheticism. He establishes Karbala as a metaphor in his works, keeping in view the region’s civilization and past. He reflects on the metaphor of Karbala in his era, with his own diction and classical patterns, astonishing the readers on every step. In the poetry of Karbala, he gives the primary value to contemporary issues and resistive tendencies of Urdu literature. He remains the only name who has worked on metaphoric vastness of Karbala. His poetry redeems Islamic characters along with old civilization and the ages past. His works establish Karbala as a global symbol and metaphor for atrocities. Along with symbolism and metaphor Iftikhar Arif's work distinguishes itself via his method. Along with their popularity among literary community owing to their craft, his personality is popular among the masses. The shared tendency of Karbala as a metaphor rings clear notes in the works of him.
