Abstract :

The article examines the international situation of the USSR after the war and the tasks of the foreign policy of the Soviet Union.The article also discusses the outcome of World War II, which significantly changed the geopolitical situation in the world. The Soviet Union played an outstanding role in ridding peoples of fascist slavery. The position of the USSR in the international arena was significantly strengthened, and the authority of the USSR increased. Most people began to talk about the USSR, its people and the heroic army with admiration, love and respect throughout the world. Relations with other states have expanded. Already at the final stage of the war, the Soviet leadership announced the acquisition of the USSR the status of a great power, which meant that not a single issue in international life could and should not be resolved without his participation.Particular attention is paid to the beginning of the Cold War, which was caused by fundamental differences in the socio-political system, value system and ideology, in the geopolitical interest of the powers and their desire to expand the sphere of influence. The capitalist countries of the West, led by the United States and England, were developing a policy of containing the expansion of the socialist bloc.
