Abstract :

Objective: To evaluate the nutritional status of patients in critical care unit during treatment by scored Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA). Design: An observational study assessing the nutritional status of patients in critical care unit. Setting: Critical Care Unit of Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad, Gujarat. Subjects: Ninety Eight patients of ICU (60 males and 38 female) 27- 89 aged years. Results: The findings of PG-SGA showed that 59.1% (58) of 98 patients were well nourished, 9.18% (9) of patients were malnourished and 31.6% (31) of patients were overweight. Conclusions: The findings of present study showed that the prevalence of malnutrition (9.18%) was found in patients of critical care unit during the period of admission.
