Abstract :

Purpose: To compare the outcome in patients who underwent surgery for proximal end femur fracture, intertrochanteric and Subtrochanteric, using dynamic hip screw vs proximal femoral locking plate. Methods: 11 men and 19 women aged 19 to 82 (mean, 42) years were randomised to the proximal femoral locking plate group, whereas 16 men and 14 women aged 20 to 90 (mean, 47) years were randomised to the conventional 135º DHS group. Duration of surgery, total amount of blood loss, duration of hospital stay, mobilisation and weight bearing, radiological assessment, complications and Harris hip score were assessed at the end of 6 months. Results: Respectively in the locking plate and DHS groups, the mean duration of surgery were 72.18 mins and 54.25 mins,(p=
