Abstract :
In this study, Reduced Glutathione (GSH) and Oxidized Glutathione (GSSG) levels of Bryum argenteum, Imbribryum mildeanum, Ptychostomum imbricatulum (I, II), Ptychostomum moravicum(I, II, III) and Ptychostomum capillarewere determined with High-performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). GSH and GSSG levels of species were determined as Bryum argenteum232.70 ± 13.40 ?g/g ve 4,22 ± 1.20 ?g/g; Imbribryum mildeanum135.55 ± 6.66 ?g/g ve 26.97 ± 2.50 ?g/g; Ptychostomum imbricatulum (I) 107.44 ± 8.71 ?g/g ve 153.05 ± 9.85 ?g/g; Ptychostomum imbricatulum(II) 207.97 ± 13.58 ?g/g ve 107.67 ± 4.55 ?g/g; Ptychostomum moravicum(I)172.89 ± 6.35 ?g/g ve 12.53 ± 2.59 ?g/g; Ptychostomum moravicum(II)172.15 ± 6.62 ?g/g ve 20.48 ± 2.54 ?g/g; Ptychostomum moravicum(III)176.84 ± 6.49 ?g/g ve 28.86 ± 4.59 ?g/g ve Ptychostomum capillare234.38 ± 5.79 ?g/g ve 6.58 ± 1.91 ?g/g respectively. These resultsshowedthat these bryophyte species belonging to the Bryaceae family are very good sources of glutathione (GSH and GSSG). Due to their high glutathione content, it has been concluded that the familyand species are antioxidant plants and can be used as raw material in various fields.
