Abstract :

Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a reactive non-neoplastic gingival overgrowth. It is reactive overgrowth originating from periodontal ligament cells. POF occurs frequently in the maxillary anterior region. The lesion has female predilection. POF has high recurrence rate. Various treatment modalities are available to excise POF including scalpel, electrocautery, cryotherapy & laser. It is a case report of 48 year old female patient with POF in the left palatal region and one-year follow-up after excision done using Er: YAG laser.
