Since 3-4 decades the various type of effluent comes from industrial, domestic in addition to agricultural runoff. The work have been carried out to study physico-chemical characterizes viz. pH, EC, TDS, F, Cl, Na, Zn, and Fe to evaluate the groundwater quality and their statistical correlation. The calculation of WQI (water quality Index) is 45.18 and it comparing with Indian Standard Drinking Water (IS 10500: 2012), results groundwater quality of Patiala city in the range of slightly polluted which are not suitable for drinking purposes without treatment but it is suitable for agricultural and other domestic purposes.
