Abstract :
The Pre-primary Education Mahe Model is a research project developed by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mahe unit with the support of the Education Department, Pondicherry in the year 2012. The model is implemented for the pre-primary sections attached to the ten primary schools of Mahe. The disaffection towards the mother tongue due to the dominance of new bred English medium Schools paved the way for the formulation of this project at the pre-primary level. Since the medium of instructions of all the primary sections of Mahe region is English, it was highly necessary to impart a system, which provides a linguistic English base also at pre-primary level. Hence the model provides opportunity of develop both Malayalam and English. This research project was developed jointly by Sarva Shiksha AbhiyanMahe and the Education Department Mahe. This manifestation is done for the pre-primary sections attached to the ten primary schools of Mahe. OBJECTIVES • To enable the children to acquire the competency of both English and Malayalam at their level. • To make an integrated Kids book (included the activities to develop competency in Malayalam, English and numerals) to develop language skills and whole round development. • To increase the proficiency of teachers in handling scientific pre-primary education. • To educate the parents about the aims and objectives of the pre-primary education
