Abstract :

The issue of environmental pollution dates back to the emergence of Homo Sapiens on Earth and was first recognized by Plato 2500 years ago, indicating its longstanding origin. Nevertheless, in contemporary times, the challenges related to managing and protecting the environment have become more complex and urgent, reflecting the evolution of this problem. Industrialisation, urbanisation, population explosion, poverty, over exploitation of resources, depletion of traditional resource of energy and raw materials and the research for new sources of energy and raw materials, are some of the factors which have contributed to environmental deterioration in India.
