Abstract :

Background: Microimplants have become a game-changer in modern orthodontics, making treatments more efficient and effective. A major goal in clinical practice is to reduce chairside time, thereby improving the predictability of the procedure for both the patient and the orthodontist. While microimplants are now a routine part of treatment, accurately placing them, especially in the narrow spaces between tooth roots, can still be challenging.Aims & Objective: To introduce a simple and innovative technique that enhances accuracy, safety, ease, and precision, and predictability of mini-implant placement.Materials and Methods: The S-Jig was fabricated using 0.017 × 0.025-inch stainless steel wire, orthodontic separators, and flowable composite. After selecting the implant site, the jig was stabilized intraorally, radiographically verified, and used to mark the ideal placement location. Mini-implants were then inserted, and their positions confirmed with post-operative radiographs.Result: The S-Jig enabled reproducible and precise placement of implants. Fabrication required less time and utilized inexpensive, readily available orthodontic materials. Radiographic confirmation minimized risks of root contact, and the jig was sterilizable and reusable. Conclusion: The S-Jig technique provides orthodontists with a low-cost, reliable, and chairside solution for mini-implant placement. Its simplicity and reproducibility make it suitable for routine orthodontic practice, particularly in settings without access to advanced digital or surgical stent technology.
