Abstract :
Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO) emerges as a robust contender to address the growing demand for aesthetic enhancements among adults and the imperative for expedited orthodontic treatments, the search for innovative mechanisms has intensified within the field of orthodontics. PAOO encompasses a surgical approach incorporating various techniques such as flap design, decortication, particulate grafting, and suturing, leveraging the principles of the Regional Acceleratory Phenomenon (RAP). This method aims to accelerate orthodontic treatment timelines while ensuring optimal outcomes. The efficacy of PAOO has been extensively demonstrated, yielding expedited results characterized by enhanced alveolar bone thickness and minimized postoperative discomfort. These favourable outcomes underscore the potential of PAOO as a viable option in adult orthodontic interventions. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of PAOO, covering its historical background, biomechanical principles, surgical procedures, indications, clinical applications, contraindications, limitations, complications, and advantages. PAOO represents a promising avenue for adult orthodontics, offering both efficacy and stability in treatment outcomes. By embracing this innovative approach, orthodontic practitioners can meet the evolving demands of adult patients while ensuring optimal treatment efficiency and effectiveness.
