Abstract :

Xanthogranulomatous lesions are common in gall bladder & kidney. The presence of xanthomatous inflammation in prostate is a rare finding which can be incidentally noted on evaluation of prostatic biopsies in patients presenting with prostatic enlargement & varied urinary symptoms. We report a case of xanthogranulomatous prostatitis on transurethral resection specimen in a 56-year-old male patient who came to hospital with complaints of urinary retention and burning micturition. Biopsy along with immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia with xanthogranulomatous inflammation.
