Abstract :
Understanding of biological processes at the nanoscale level is a strong driving force behind development of nanotechnology. Silver nanoaparticles have important applications in the field of biology. Stable silver nanoparticles were synthesized by biological reduction method. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the larvicidal activity of silver nanoparticles synthesized by a fungus named Aspergillus flavus against the larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus
mosquito reared in stagnant water. The parasite larvae were exposed to varying concentrations of synthesized silver nanoparticles for 24 h as per WHO protocols. Distilled water served as control. Hundred percentage mortality was recorded. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibited significant larvicidal activity.
