Abstract :

The aim of this paper is to present a case of relapsing polychondritis and response to cyclophosphamide pulse therapy. A 19 years old female patient presented with inflammatory back pain, asymmetrical oligoartheritis and acute anterior uveitis. CT thorax revealed edema in the glottis and trachea causing narrowing of lumen. Based on the investigations and clinical finding a final diagnosis of relapsing polychondritis was done and started with 5 pulse of cyclophosphamide which showed improvement. Relapsing polychondritis is a rare condition commonly affecting 40-50 years age group. But can be seen in younger age too in both the sexes. Laryngobronchial involvement occurs in approximately 50% of patients, and is among the most serious complications. Here we present the case of a 19 year old female with relapsing polychondritis presenting with stridor due to tracheal involvement.
